Advertisement | ![]() Meg Oliver, Up To The Minute anchor (CBS) (CBS) Meg Oliver has been the anchor of Up To The Minute, CBS News' overnight broadcast, since March 2006. She also serves as a substitute anchor for the CBS Morning News and has contributed reports to The Early Show. In addition to anchoring the overnight broadcast for CBS News, Oliver developed a weekly franchise for Up To The Minute, that targets part of the broadcast's core audience -- parents of insomniac infants. The segment airs each Friday morning. Oliver has conducted exclusive interviews with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, 2008 presidential candidate Bill Richardson, former presidential candidate Ralph Nader, former vice presidential candidate Jack Kemp and Iraqi Ambassador to the United States Samir Sumaidaie, among many others. She has covered many breaking news events including the killing of Abu Musab Al Zarqawi, Hurricane Dean and the influential mid-term elections of 2006. Prior to joining Up To The Minute, Oliver was a freelance correspondent for CBS Newspath, the Network’s 24-hour, daily news service, based in Washington, D.C. (2005-06). There, she covered several major news stories, including the nomination of Chief Justice John Roberts, President George W. Bush's 2006 State of the Union address and the Congressional hearings on the federal response to Hurricane Katrina. Before that, Oliver was the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. weekday anchor for KGPE-TV Fresno, Calif. (2001-04). She was a reporter and anchor at WWJ/WKBD-TV Detroit (1998-2001) and a reporter at WTIC-TV Hartford, Conn. (1997-98). Oliver served as a reporter for Northwest Cable News in its Seattle and Boise, Idaho, bureaus (1995-97). She began her journalism career as a reporter and anchor at KCFW-TV Kalispell, Mont. (1993-95). Oliver has earned eight Emmy Award nominations, including one for "Outstanding Anchor" and two for "Best Reporter." She has received four Associated Press Awards and two Society of Professional Journalists Awards. Oliver also received a 2001 Michigan Association of Broadcasters Award for a series on airport security after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. And in 2007, Oliver was honored along with Up To The Minute Senior Producer Bob Bicknell with the Autism Society of America Media Excellence Award for making a significant contribution to autism awareness, education and support through broadcasting. She serves on the board of directors for The Montanan, the University of Montana magazine. Oliver was born in Birmingham, Mich. She was graduated from the University of Montana in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism.
